Text Box: A move is underway to locate the owner of each & every lot, all the way back to purchase from the original developers. The first step in this process, identification, is complete. The second step is to determine those previous owners that may be deceased. Once that is done, we will attempt to locate as many as possible. They will be contacted to determine if they wish to be kept up to date and to have their information made Text Box: available to other members. After all, these were people were neighbors and friends. Many times they would love to stay in touch, but have just lost track. This project would make that task easier. Once we get to the stage where we are ready to actually make contact, W.C. Brister and Mary Lou Bartula have agreed to step in.
To date, in addition to the current 73 owners, there have been 135 previous owners Text Box: identified. By the annual meeting we hope to have a list available. In addition, we should have for each lot, a list of previous owners for that lot.
If you know how to contact any previous owner, and you would not mind sharing that information, please bring it to the annual meeting and turn it in at the sign in station. Information you provide will save us time and effort, and we appreciate that. If you would like to help in this effort, call Mary Lou Bartula at (409) 684-Text Box: Kona Kai Alumni

Text Box: we can all understand that. If we accept Mrs. Standefers gracious offer, we will do it with the understanding that she will have both the right to approve design and constructions plans, and to terminate our use of the property with (30) days written notice, after which we will have to remove the sign.
Now, given the situation as described, we as a community need to voice our opinions. Be thinking on this issue and express your opinion at the annual meeting. A new sign, unlike the old sign, is certainly not required for our success. But with the massive investment in this area in subdivisions you can see online like

the question is, would it be beneficial and/or desirable?
If your collective opinion is yes, the BOD can then address all of the other issues that will then have to be determined. Things like how much money would we like to set as a maximum for the project. Ask for donations or use HOA funds? Keep in mind that any use of HOA funds over $1,000.00 would require a vote of the majority of the lot owners. Give it some thought and let your opinions be known at the annual meeting.

From an idea and a vision, it was realized by a cooperative effort of a group that included Bill Standefer, George Orgeron, James Johnston, Archie Donahue, Charles Gaston and Harold Goolishian. They created East Bay Development Corp. They knew a sign was important to draw attention and to make their endeavor successful. That original sign has been long since gone. Over the years, there have not been any signs on the highway to replaced it. For many years , many of the members of the community as well as the BOD have wanted to erect a new sign on Hwy. 87 at Boyt. For years and for many reasons this was just not possible, the least of which is that the HOA does not own the land where we would want the sign placed.
